The young generation, tries to continue and expand their tradition which for many years was looked after their teacher - Zbigniew Bilicki. This ensemble has a long-standing tradition handed down from generation to generation. There are already six generations of Roma artists that have been trained here since the foundation of our ensemble. Giving concerts throughout the years in various parts of our country we have gained tremendous popularity demonstrated by numerous tokens of appreciation. Some of them you can read on our website.
On many occasions our ensemble took part in charitable actions such as "Aid for flood victims", "Aid for Polish Union of the Blind" or money collections for Red Cross. In recent years we often performed at international Roma art festivals in Ciechocinek, Glinojeck and Gorzow.
Das Konzept The name "Romanca" was given to the ensemble quite recently. Previously, we used most of the time the name "Baro Drom" meaning "The Long Way". It was "long" because the ensemble had a long history of activities with several generations of artists cherishing the traditional sound of Roma folk music. Nowadays our ensemble consists of young generation of Roma artists who still cultivate their folklore, although they present it in a somewhat "build up" version.
The Roma folklore is international and its music is quite diverse as it differs in sound and style depending on the country it comes from. By mixing different styles of Roma music as well as by arranging our own interpretations "Romanca" gains the unique, innovative tone.
